PRACTITIONER STORIES

collecting stories of Service Design
in the Scottish public & third sectors

PROJECT INFORMATION

type of work: research
personal side project in collaboration with Stéphanie Krus & Serena Nusing
dates: May 2020 - present

2020 has been a strange year of quarantine and isolation, so I turned to online platforms to connect with peers. What I found was an extensive network of skilled, generous professionals who want to make a positive change through human-centred, participatory design in Scotland and beyond.
As I reconnected with a sense of belonging to a wider community of practice, the idea of an interview study began to shape. I wanted to hear from those practitioners their stories and learnings, their aspirations for the future of service design in the public and third sectors, and their vision for the service design community in Scotland. I was lucky to find two fantastic collaborators with similar interests to shape this fantastic project.
At a more personal level, I initiated this project as a continuation of my PhD research, as well as to familiarise myself with remote tools for research and collaboration.

We are trying to involve the Scottish Service Design community at every step: to shape questions, to suggest who we should speak to, and soon enough to analyse and interpret the data.

We are currently analysing the first 15 interviews, and will be soon holding themed sense-making sessions with practitioners.

Keep an eye on our twitter account to keep up-to-date with our progress and outputs.
